API Trim No 1 is a valve sealing surface material combination defined in the American Petroleum Institute API 600 standard. Trim No 1 generally refers to the use of 13% chromium stainless steel for the valve disc and seat. This material combination is suitable for applications under standard service conditions. .
TRIM refers to the nominal internal component combinations; API 600 specifies around 10 such combinations. No 1 refers to the first set of material internals.
