Survey and design work begins for the world’s largest green hydrogen pipeline in terms of diameter and capacity

On July 3, a meeting to launch the survey and detailed design phase of the hydrogen pipeline project from Kangbao to Caofeidian was held in Langfang, Hebei. Once completed, this pipeline will play a significant role in promoting the integrated development of hydrogen energy in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. The project was approved by the Hebei Provincial Development and Reform Commission at the end of last December. The pipeline starts in Kangbao County, Zhangjiakou City, and ends in Caofeidian District, Tangshan City; its total length is 972.7 kilometers, with a diameter of 813 millimeters and a design pressure of 7.1 megapascals. Its maximum annual capacity for transporting green hydrogen is around 1.3 million tons, making it the largest green hydrogen pipeline in the world in terms of both diameter and transport capacity. The project was invested and constructed by Tangshan Haitai New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., while China National Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Corporation (the pipeline design institute) was responsible for the feasibility study, surveying and mapping, and detailed design work.
