Gasunie completes welding of 32-kilometer hydrogen pipeline in Rotterdam 2025-08-30 10:09· In mid-August 2025, the welding of the final section of the 32-kilometer long hydrogen pipeline in Rotterdam marked an important milestone. Through the first phase of Denmark’s **hydrogen network, Gasunie is laying the foundation for Rotterdam Port to become a major energy hub in Europe, with connections to Germany, Belgium, and other parts of the Netherlands. The next phase begins now: testing, pre-debugging, debugging, and preparation for operation. After several years of preparation, the project commenced construction in April 2024. In the Rotterdam port area, this route must pass through a dense network of roads, railways, waterways, as well as hundreds of existing pipelines and cables. At these intersections, the route sometimes has to pass beneath 20 or more pipes and cables, all of which must remain in operation during construction.
