According to Document No. 3 of 2019, sulfuric acid is classified as GC2
Announcement by the State Administration for Market Regulation on Matters Related to Administrative Licenses for Special Equipment (**Announcement No. 3 of 2019 issued by the State Administration for Market Regulation): GC1: 1. Process pipelines that transport media with a toxicity level of Acute Toxicity Category 1 as specified in the Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals, gas media belonging to Acute Toxicity Category 2, and liquid media of Acute Toxicity Category 2 whose operating temperature is higher than their standard boiling point; 2. Process pipelines that transport flammable gases of Class A or B, or flammable liquids of Class A (including liquefied hydrocarbons), as specified in GB50160 \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Petrochemical Enterprises\" and GB50016 \"Code for Fire Protection Design of Buildings\", and whose design pressure is 4.0 MPa or higher ; 3. Process pipelines that transport fluid media, with a design pressure of 10.0 MPa or more, or a design pressure of 4.0 MPa or more along with a design temperature of 400°C or higher. GC2: 1. Process pipelines other than those of GC1 grade; 2. Refrigeration pipelines. GCD: Power pipelines. According to the \"Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals\" (2015 edition) and the \"Guidelines for the Implementation of the Catalogue of Hazardous Chemicals (2015 edition) (Trial)\", sulfuric acid pipelines are classified as GC2 pipelines
In other words, is sulfuric acid defined as a highly hazardous substance and only applicable in the context of pressure vessels?
Once classified as extremely hazardous, if metal pipes are used for the sulfuric acid pipeline. According to Article 13.1.3.6 of GB50316, the flanges used must have a pressure rating of not less than 2.0 MPa ; According to Table J.2.1 of GB50316, 100% flaw detection is required for pipelines.
Previously, sulfuric acid pipelines were all conventionally classified as GC1. However, after the new regulations were introduced, they are now classified according to the Hazardous Chemicals Catalogue as process pipelines for substances with acute toxicity of Category 1, gases with acute toxicity of Category 2, or liquids with acute toxicity of Category 2 when their operating temperature exceeds the specified threshold. Upon checking, sulfuric acid (item number 1302) does not fall under any category of acute toxicity; therefore, it is now classified as GC2 level
How to view the medium category in a directory, such as Acute Toxicity Category 1 media
Sulfuric acid is classified as highly hazardous due to its carcinogenicity, not its acute toxicity. Should sulfuric acid be handled according to GC2?
