Can a leaking used titanium tube be welded back together?
For the saline water and chlorine gas pipelines in chlor-alkali production, patch welding is possible, but such temporary repairs made during emergency shutdowns usually don’t last long, as the gas protection used in welding is inadequate and the quality of the repairs cannot be guaranteed
When a titanium tube leaks, simply welding it back together usually doesn’t provide long-term protection; instead, the method we often use is to apply a patch to the leaking area.
The edges of the patch leaked again soon; are there any other good solutions? Teachers? For example, is the pressure-based leak sealing technique suitable? Is there a trial version?
Repair welding is not recommended; it does not provide adequate protection, the process of cleaning and replacing materials takes a long time, and even ordinary welders find it difficult to perform it well. It is more cost-effective to use clamps for injecting glue to seal leaks. If the leak location is suitable, using a steel strip can also serve as a temporary solution. For pipes that are not of great importance, consider a complete replacement of the CPVC pipelines provided that the temperature and pressure conditions permit it.
It’s better to apply the patch after parking; it’s impossible to weld the titanium tubes that pass through the materials, mainly because the welding surfaces aren’t cleaned properly.
