At present, the alkali solution in our plant contains high levels of chloride ions, which causes corrosion and perforation in stainless steel elbows. I’ve tried to find information on alkali solutions, but couldn’t locate any, so I’m reaching out to the experts in this forum for their knowledge on this topic. I’ve seen that carbon steel alkali lines with heating elements can develop alkali embrittlement; so, can stainless steel lines with heating elements also suffer from alkali embrittlement? Urgently need an answer!
