Our company plans to install burst discs in series in front of the safety valve of the liquid chlorine storage tank. The normal operating pressure is 0.2 MPa, while the set pressure of the safety valve is 1.6 MPa. Which type of burst disc would be suitable for this application?
When used in combination with a safety valve, the disc to be selected should produce no fragments upon rupture; therefore, a disc with a positive arch groove design should be chosen.
Using a tetrafluoroethylene rupture disc for liquid chlorine is less costly, but it is necessary to ensure that no fragments remain after the disc ruptures; otherwise, residual fragments on the sealing surface may cause continuous leakage even after the safety valve opens
It is recommended to add a burst disc below the safety valve
A reverse-arch shaped burst disc is placed below the safety valve, ensuring no fragments are produced upon bursting!
