Dear friends, recently the hydrogen produced by the electrolyzers in our factory has contained ammonia, although all other parameters are normal. The total ammonia level in both the raw salt and pure water is also low. Could someone please explain what’s going on? Where is the problem?
There may be cross-contamination or abnormal chemical reactions during the electrolysis process. It is recommended to check whether there is any leakage or accumulation of ammonia inside the electrolyzer, as well as to ensure that the electrolysis system and related pipelines are airtight. At the same time, more thorough testing of the raw materials is also necessary to determine whether any trace amounts of ammonia contamination have gone undetected. It is also possible to strengthen the monitoring of the environment surrounding the electrolyzer to ensure that no other sources of ammonia affect the production system. .

Whether the ammonia content in the raw salt and refined brine exceeds the limits; generally, it does not exceed the limits, as ammonia is an indicator that is strictly monitored and controlled due to requirements for safe production; 2. Check whether there is ammonia contamination in the brine in the cathode tank, and examine the pure water production system for any minor leaks of ammonia; once ammonia enters the cathode tank, it will escape due to the strong alkalinity of the sodium hydroxide solution present there. In short, if ammonia is detected and confirmed to be present near the electrolyzer, it poses a safety hazard, and thorough investigation is required.
