Are there any other processes for treating high-salt wastewater besides evaporation?

There are many types of high-salt wastewater, and each case requires a specific approach. No single method can handle all types of wastewater. Multi-effect evaporation and MVR are the simplest methods, but they produce solid salts; it’s best if there’s a place to sell those salts. The wastewater resulting from evaporation still needs to undergo biological treatment. Wet oxidation can be used to reduce the TOC level to meet discharge standards or reuse standards, depending on whether the water can be reused. If it cannot be reused, can it be discharged directly? If direct discharge isn’t possible, evaporation crystallization is the alternative; the advantage is that it yields clean salt. Processes such as Fenton’s reagent, supercritical oxidation, and catalytic oxidation are also available, but it’s necessary to find experienced professionals, otherwise the money will be wasted.
