In terms of cost, caustic soda is much cheaper. I think the effect of caustic soda neutralization is acceptable. I wonder how soda ash is. Is there a wise person who can compare these two?
In principle, excessive alkalinity can lead to the dechlorination of chloroalkanes and their cross-linking (formation of ether bonds). However, if it is produced by the aqueous phase method, with the alkali material being added slowly after it has been evenly dissolved, there should not be much difference. Perhaps the soda ash method is more suitable for solid-phase neutralization.
We produce 30% ionic membrane caustic soda using the aqueous method.
Caustic soda is low in cost; however, if it’s too concentrated, it can easily cause the material to turn yellow. Soda ash has a mild alkalinity; its alkali content is high, but the neutralization temperature is too high, which can cause the material to boil and increases costs.
