How many process gas compressors are needed for a 1-million-ton soda ash project?
Six carbon dioxide compressors are required, with a capacity of approximately Q=440 m³/min each.
A soda ash production plant with an annual output of 1 million tons requires a total volume of carbon dioxide gas (at standard conditions) of approximately 130,000 cubic meters per hour. Based on the ratio of gases from the upper, lower, and middle sections being 1:1.4:2.5, it should be noted that the air delivery capacity of the compressor is closely related to both its outlet and inlet pressures; therefore, calculations cannot be made based solely on the compressor’s nameplate specifications. For a compressor with a delivery rate of 433 m³/min (operating at higher pressure), the volume of gas generated in the middle section is roughly 20,000 m³/h, while that in the lower section is approximately 14,000 m³/h
We employ the shifted gas caustic soda process; a total of 9 compressors are required, with an air displacement volume of 240 cubic meters
