Does the flue gas enter the converter from the upper or lower part of each catalyst layer?

I’m confused; some sources state that the flue gas enters from the bottom of each catalyst layer, while other sources say it enters from the top of each catalyst layer. So, does it enter from the top or from the bottom?
Enter from the top and exit from the bottom; that’s the usual practice

From top to bottom, in my opinion, this approach takes into account the impact of the downward airflow on the catalyst layer as well as the reaction of SO2
