The sulfuric acid converter has been in operation for over 15 years now, and the grating plates and their beams are severely deformed. What are the best ways to optimize this situation? Is a stainless steel grille a good choice these days? How long does it take to replace a layer?
Stainless steel should be good, right! We haven’t used it either. Cast iron will fracture at high temperatures after being in use for a while; replacing it takes only two or three days.

Are there diagrams for various experts? Also, how long does it take to replace all five layers in such a major overhaul?
The stainless steel beams and grating plates we just installed have yet to show their performance, but our beams were made by cutting 12-mm-thick steel plates; it is recommended to use prefabricated I-beams (stainless steel) as they would be more durable. As for the specific installation time, it took us one and a half days to complete the installation on the two floors.
Are the stainless steel beams welded to the converter as a whole? Place a stainless steel grille on top again?
Some people suggest the following arrangement for installing the catalyst at the bottom: mesh plate – ceramic balls – mesh plate – catalyst. Others say that a stainless steel mesh plate should not come into contact with the catalyst, as this could cause corrosion, deformation, and adhesion; is this true?

The converter is a key piece of equipment in sulfuric acid production; the grate plates used in converters are placed inside these devices. The grate plates produced by our company feature reinforced horizontal supports, with the thickness of the central ribs and side ribs being equal, which significantly reduces the frequency of converter maintenance and facilitates continuous operation!
