Dear experienced colleagues: What are the signs of a economizer leak?
Generally, there is a significant decrease in steam flow, which is abnormally lower than the feedwater flow； The steam temperature rises while the pressure drops ； Phenomena such as a decrease in the temperature of the exhaust flue gas occur.
It depends on the location; if the SO3 content in the flue gas is high, a leak in the economizer often results in an increase in the temperature of the flue gas at the economizer’s outlet.
The three-stage economizer is leaking, which will increase the amount of condensing acid required for replacement
Condensed acid generally refers to that formed by the condensation of sulfuric acid vapor on the SO3 side; leaks in the economizer downstream of III should not affect the section upstream of it. Many in the industry* are accustomed to referring to the acidic substances on the SO2 side as condensation acid. When there is a leak in the steam equipment upstream of the intermediate absorption tower, the amount of acid mist inside the tower increases, resulting in more acidic substances on the SO2 side downstream of tower III (especially when the performance of the demister is poor).
