Hubei Zhongxiang Xinyangfeng’s 800,000-ton sulfur-based acid production project comes online

In July 2024, the 800,000-ton-per-year sulfuric acid production project at the Hubei Zhongxiang base of Xin Yangfeng Agricultural Technology Co., Ltd. was successfully ignited on the first attempt, and qualified products were produced without any issues. 　　Sulfuric acid is one of the important raw materials for the production of monoammonium phosphate and potassium sulfate compound fertilizers. To ensure a supply of raw materials, Xinyangfeng built its first sulfuric acid production line in 1996, with an annual capacity of 60,000 tons. As the company continued to grow, it established multiple sulfuric acid production lines at facilities in Jingmen, Zhongxiang, Yichang, and Leibo in Sichuan. The production processes involved both the production of acid from sulfur concentrate and sulfur itself. The well-equipped sulfuric acid production line enables enterprises to flexibly choose among three methods—producing acid from sulfur concentrate, producing acid from elemental sulfur, or purchasing it from the market—in response to fluctuations in market conditions. This helps meet their production needs, effectively reduce production costs, and ensure a stable supply and reasonable pricing of fertilizers, thereby contributing to the high-quality development of agriculture. 　　The sulfur-based sulfuric acid production project that has just been put into operation at the Xinyangfeng Zhongxiang facility uses sulfur as raw material, and through processes such as sulfur melting, combustion, conversion, and absorption, sulfuric acid is ultimately produced. The by-product medium-pressure superheated steam can be used to generate electricity with steam-driven fans. Moreover, after being converted into low-pressure saturated steam, it can meet the requirements of nitro compound fertilizer production. Compared with the sulfur concentrate-based acid production process, the sulfur-based acid production process has a simpler flow, lower consumption of raw materials and utility resources, and generates more by-product steam; it is therefore an acid production process that is encouraged for development. 　　Once this facility is put into operation successfully, the annual sulfuric acid production capacity of Xinyangfeng’s Zhongxiang plant will reach 1.3 million tons, which will fully meet the plant’s demand for sulfuric acid and steam. This will help to optimize production processes and enhance the overall competitiveness of the enterprise.
