Which expert is familiar with the 9801 arsenic-removal agent used in Kunshan’s fine chemical industry? It generates heat when stored – what could be the reason for this? Thank you
It has been in use for a few years and is now ready to be replaced. After opening it a couple of days ago, I noticed that the container was quite hot, around 60 degrees. :L
The active components of the 9801 arsenic removal agent are copper, zinc, and aluminum, of which 40% is copper oxide. The new arsenic removal agent is non-toxic and does not release heat when exposed to air. During the use of arsenic removal agents, hydrogen arsenide present in the material reacts chemically with copper oxide, causing the copper oxide to be reduced to lower-valent copper. As mentioned earlier, when the arsenic removal agents are removed from their storage location or when the reactor is opened, these agents undergo an oxidation reaction with oxygen in the air, releasing heat. Therefore, the removal of used arsenic removal agents must be carried out under the guidance of the manufacturer’s technical staff; since such agents absorb highly toxic arsenides, they must be handled and stored safely and properly.
