Why can’t gate valves be used for acetylene pipelines?

According to Article 9.0.3 of the \"Code for Design of Acetylene Systems\" (GB50031-91), in medium-pressure acetylene pipelines with an inner diameter greater than 50 mm, there should be no blind flanges or dead ends, and gate valves should not be used. Is there any teacher who knows why gate valves cannot be used? Have similar accidents occurred before?
I saw it in practice questions for plumbing exams; it’s mainly used to prevent damage caused by the extremely high pressure generated during an acetylene explosion
