I have a question: Polyethylene glycol 200 solid is dissolved in water to form an aqueous solution, which is then added to the catalyst as a pore-expanding agent. Then we calcined the prepared solid catalyst in a muffle furnace, removed it after high-temperature heating, and used this catalyst to catalyze a liquid-phase reaction. It was found that the color of the liquid after the reaction turned yellow; originally, the product liquid obtained from the catalyst prepared without adding PEG 200 aqueous solution was colorless. May I ask: Did the PEG200 added undergo a decomposition reaction, producing a yellow-colored substance that caused the color of the product to darken after the catalytic reaction? What colored substances are formed when PEG-200 is calcined at a high temperature of 400 degrees? Those who know please give an explanation!

Another approach is to treat the catalyst for the same amount of time under the same temperature and pressure in a solvent system without any reactive starting materials, and check whether the solution changes color.
Has your polyethylene glycol not been completely decomposed?
PEG-2000, not PEG-200 – at what temperature does it generally decompose?
It takes over 500 degrees to decompose it completely
