Properties: Cardo resins of different models share common characteristics despite differences in performance. It appears as a loose white powder; it is slightly acidic, with a density of 0.21 g/cm3. In a 0.5% water solution, the pH value of this medium-dispersion system ranges from 2.7 to 3.5. Its main uses include: Carbopol, also known as carboxymethyl cellulose, forms an excellent gel matrix after neutralization; it serves functions such as thickening and suspension. It has a simple production process and good stability, and is widely used in emulsions, creams, and gels. The commonly used Carbopol series are as follows: 1. Carbopol 676: It has short rheological properties, high viscosity, and high clarity; however, it has low resistance to ions and shear forces. It is suitable for use in dishwashing agents (such as automatic dishwashers), disinfectants, laundry detergents, cleaners for hard surfaces, poison-resistant cleaning agents, toilet cleaners, car wash products, adhesives for solid fuels, and alkaline batteries. The recommended usage level is 0.2–1.0%. 2. Carbopol 934: A cross-linked polyacrylic resin used in topical delivery systems; it remains stable at high viscosities. It is suitable for skincare lotions, creams, opaque gels, shampoos, and body washes. Recommended usage level: 0.2–1.0%. 3. Carbopol 940: Short rheology, high viscosity, high clarity; low resistance to ions and shear forces. Suitable for skin lotions, creams, transparent gel products containing ethanol, transparent skincare gels, hair styling gels, shampoos. Recommended usage level: 0.2–1.0%. 4. Carbopol 941: Long rheology, low viscosity, high clarity; moderate resistance to ions and shear forces. Suitable for skincare lotions, creams, transparent skincare gels, and hair styling gels (suitable for formulations with moderate ion content). Recommended usage level: 0.1–1.5%. 5. Carbopol 980: A cross-linked polyacrylic resin used in topical delivery systems; suitable for skincare lotions, creams, ethanol-containing transparent gels, transparent skincare gels, hair styling gels, shampoos, and body washes. Recommended usage level: 0.2–1.0%. 6. Carbopol Ultrez 10: A cross-linked polyacrylic polymer with low flow viscosity, high viscosity, high transparency, excellent suspension capacity, strong self-wetting properties, and resistance to acids and bases; it is also easy to disperse and dissolve. It enables effective rheological modification, possesses excellent self-wetting properties, is easy to use, and features outstanding stability and suspension capacity; it can provide thickening and stabilizing effects over a wide range of pH values. Suitable for acidic and alkaline systems. 7. Carbopol Ultrez 20: A cross-linked copolymer of acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylates with long rheology; suitable for electrolyte-containing skincare lotions, creams, transparent gels containing ethanol, transparent skincare gels, hair styling gels, shampoos, and body washes. Recommended usage level: 0.2–1.5%. 8. Carbopol Ultrez 21: A cross-linked copolymer of acrylates/C10-30 alkyl acrylates with short rheology; suitable for gels, cleaning products, products with high levels of electrolytes, creams, and lotions. Recommended usage level: 0.2–1.5%. 9. Carbopol ETD 2020: Acrylate/C10-30 alkyl acrylate cross-linked copolymer, featuring long rheology, low viscosity, high clarity, as well as excellent ion resistance and shear resistance. It is suitable for skincare lotions, creams, transparent skincare gels, hair styling gels, as well as shampoos and body washes. Recommended usage level: 0.2-1.0%. 10.
