The localization of the key raw material adiponitrile, which has broken the import monopoly, should have served as the \"golden key\" to the high-quality development of the nylon 66 industry. However, the overly rapid increase in production capacity that occurred simultaneously led to temporary imbalances between supply and demand in the market as well as intensified competition. The author believes that for the nylon 66 industry to overcome \"involution\" and achieve healthy development, the key lies in strengthening planning and guidance, promoting technological innovation, and deepening collaboration within the industrial chain, so as to create a sustainable industrial ecosystem and facilitate a transition of the industry from scale expansion to value enhancement. The dilemma of \"involution\" in the nylon 66 industry is quite typical. Following technological advancements in adiponitrile, domestic production capacity of nylon 66 increased rapidly, leading to a structural imbalance between supply and demand and putting pressure on product prices as well as the overall profitability of the industry. Some phenomena indicate that relying solely on a path of scale expansion, coupled with a lack of coordination in regional layout, can lead to disorderly market competition, thereby affecting investment in innovation and the long-term competitiveness of the industry. Faced with these challenges, the industry has begun to wake up, with some companies taking steps to save themselves. From Shenma Shares’ focus on developing differentiated high-performance products, to Huafeng Group’s call to curb disorderly competition, and then to the 11 leading companies jointly signing an initiative for high-quality development, the nylon 66 industry has reached a consensus: it is necessary for the government, the industry, and enterprises to work together to prevent reckless expansion of production capacity, to jointly oppose dumping practices, and to focus on developing high-end, differentiated products. At the policy level, it is recommended that the relevant government departments include it in the list of key new material production capacity early-warning items. By enhancing information-based early warnings, standardizing access requirements, and strengthening environmental and safety constraints, such measures can help to guide the rational allocation and orderly development of production capacity, thereby achieving a better integration of market mechanisms and policy guidance. At the industry level, it is necessary to fully leverage the role of industry associations, establish platforms for monitoring industry operations and sharing information, promote technical exchanges and cooperation, foster healthy competition and coordination within the industrial chain, avoid low-level duplication of efforts and irrational competition, and safeguard the overall interests of the industry. At the corporate level, it is necessary to continuously increase investment in research and development, and actively explore applications in emerging fields such as new energy vehicles and high-end equipment, in order to break through the pattern of homogeneous competition through technological innovation and the expansion of applications. Only by shifting the focus of development from competing on production capacity to technological innovation, quality improvement, and mutual benefit for all stakeholders can the nylon 66 industry break free from the cycle of competitive strain and move toward high-quality development. This is not only a necessary measure to address current market changes, but also a long-term strategy to strengthen the industrial foundation and enhance core competitiveness.
