Fluctuations in regeneration pressure caused several thermal shutdowns
For the uop2 generation CCR, contact the instrumentation team to adjust the balance valves, and then try reducing the circulation rate accordingly. Regenerative shutdown does not require any special operations on the compressor
It’s a compressor failure; the standby unit has been activated, and there are fluctuations in the pressure of the regenerator. What actions can be taken to minimize the impact on regeneration?
Before shutting down the machine, perform manual thermal shutdown; restart regeneration once the system is stable; It’s fine to stop the regenerative heat for a day or two; this is the safest way to proceed
Your differential pressure control system is a bit weak. The instrument system should be addressed first; if necessary, manual control of the regenerator differential pressure should be used. It really has to be stopped due to the heat; all I can say is that your system is poor. Since we started operations here, there have only been one or two instances of a thermal shutdown during machine shutdowns, and it wasn’t even due to the shutdown itself. There are other reasons as well.
If it’s a reciprocating machine, we have a solution; after making many cuts, thermal shutdowns occur very rarely.
Reciprocating machines certainly cannot rely solely on a load regulator, as is the case with cut-off pre-hydrogenation or other hydrogenation units; this would result in large fluctuations in the flow rate, with instances of either no flow at all or a doubling of the flow rate. Such conditions can easily cause pressure differences that lead to thermal shutdowns. An insufficient flow rate can cause the electric heaters to shut down due to overheating, or even damage them. For reciprocating machines to maintain minimal fluctuations in flow rate during cutting, a backup unit needs to be started via a bypass and operated at full load; by using the bypass valve for cutting, the flow rate fluctuations will be very small.
