Does your unit exchange heat between the feed oil and the slurry oil? Are both of the 2 sets in use, or is one set in use while the other serves as a backup?
We use heat exchange between the feed oil and the slurry in our unit; two sets are in operation, and a bypass line is used to control the preheating temperature of the crude oil.
Is the secondary line activated because the temperature of your feed oil is high, in order to prevent it from rising too much?
Is it excessive to use one set in operation and another as a backup? Would this approach help increase the flow rate and prevent coking or scaling of the slurry?
What is the nature of the raw materials used in your equipment? If the raw materials are of high density, more heat is required in the distillation tower; accordingly, a higher preheating temperature for the raw materials is necessary to obtain the necessary heat.
Crude oil is generally not exchanged heat with the furnace these days; exchanging heat only with the heat exchanger is sufficient.
In early catalysis, due to the relatively light nature of the raw materials, small processing scales, and low heat generation, heating furnaces were often required for heating
Is it switched regularly, or is the switch made only after the heat exchange efficiency becomes poor?
It has hardly been switched at all; the switch was made only last cycle when there was some coking in the slurry system. It hasn’t been switched since then, and the backup unit is kept running on diesel on a weekly basis
