Increasing the reflux ratio usually raises the dry point, that is, it improves the purity of the top product, but it also increases energy consumption. The choice of specific formula or model depends on the complexity of the distillation system and the required precision. In practical applications, using specialized chemical process simulation software (such as Aspen Plus, HYSYS, etc.) can provide more accurate and convenient simulation results. These software programs incorporate a large amount of material property data and advanced calculation models; by entering the operating conditions and feed characteristics, the software automatically calculates the dry point and other important operational parameters. .
