Conversion rate and Mooney viscosity are important control parameters in the production of synthetic rubber; they reflect the progress of production and the quality of the product. Online monitoring technology enables the online measurement of rubber conversion rate and Mooney viscosity, allowing them to be displayed in real time on the DCS just like conventional parameters such as temperature and pressure. Based on the difference between the specific gravity of the monomers before the polymerization reaction and that of the polymer produced after it, the conversion rate can be calculated by measuring the specific gravity of the material in the polymerization reactor, in combination with the feed ratio. The viscosity exhibited by the reaction system is the combined viscosity of the components such as polymers, monomers, solvents, and additives. The contents of each component in the mixed system can be determined from the conversion rate measured earlier; subsequently, the rubber Mooney viscosity can be obtained through model regression analysis based on the measured combined viscosity of the system. By conducting online monitoring of the rubber conversion rate and Mooney viscosity, manufacturing enterprises can monitor the operation of the production process in real time, and adjust the feed formulation or other operating conditions promptly to control product quality, which plays an important role in improving the economic efficiency of the enterprise.
It would be great if it could be detected online. Firstly, it saves the cost of buying a Mooney viscometer. Secondly, it enables real-time detection, resulting in faster speeds and more timely adjustment of ingredients.
