1. PP filter element: The new filter elements are white; over time, sediment may accumulate on their surface, giving them a brown color, which indicates that the element can no longer be used. After rinsing away the sediment from the surface, it can still be used for about a week, but not for an extended period of time. Its lifespan is generally from March to June. 2. RO reverse osmosis membrane: If the water consumption is 10 liters per day or less, it can be rinsed 3–5 times; if it exceeds 10 liters, more rinses are required. If it is not used for an extended period of time (such as more than four weeks), it should be taken out and soaked in a disinfectant to prevent the growth of bacteria. However, this process is rather cumbersome; it is recommended to turn the machine on regularly and use a small amount of water to allow water to circulate inside the machine, thereby minimizing the time during which stagnant water remains. The lifespan of reverse osmosis membranes is generally 2-3 years. 3. Activated carbon: Activated carbon primarily removes odors and organic substances from water through adsorption. There is residual chlorine in tap water, which has a strong oxidizing effect on reverse osmosis membranes; therefore, it must be removed using activated carbon. On the surface, there is no obvious change in activated carbon; it generally needs to be replaced after reaching saturation in adsorption, which takes about a year. 4. Ultra-purification column: Its function is to carry out advanced desalination of the water purified by reverse osmosis, thereby achieving an ultra-pure water level. The lifespan of the purification column is indicated by the resistivity profile. A resistance below a certain specific value indicates that the purification column has expired.
