One of our managers went to check the elevator in the workshop and got trapped inside it. He called for help, but it took half an hour before the maintenance staff arrived. Is that acceptable? (The maintenance workshop is only 30 meters away from the elevator in which people were trapped.) It seems the mechanic has some opinions about this inspection; otherwise, he should have apologized first.

Mechanics work overtime day and night, under even tougher conditions than those involved in shift work; it’s common for them to get trapped in elevators as well. The maintenance of elevators cannot be carried out by general mechanics; it requires specialized qualifications.
