Recently, the construction of Hunan Petrochemical’s 1 million tons per year continuous reforming complex is progressing smoothly. At present, work is underway on civil engineering, underground pipeline installation, and water supply and drainage systems; 85% of the civil engineering foundations have been completed, while 40% of the underground pipeline work has been finished. The project is expected to be handed over by mid-December 2024, with commissioning taking place in the first quarter of 2025. The image shows the construction site of the project. This project utilizes Sinopec’s Super Low Pressure Continuous Reforming technology (SLCR) as well as the domestically produced reforming catalyst PS-Ⅵ. It uses straight-run naphtha and mixed naphtha from storage tanks as raw materials to produce C6/C7 fractions, mixed xylene, and high-octane gasoline components; meanwhile, reforming hydrogen is generated as a by-product. The facility will consist of a unit capable of processing 1 million tons per year of feedstock for reforming, 400,000 tons per year for aromatic extraction, and 40,000 standard cubic meters per year for the concentration of reforming hydrogen. Additionally, a new circulating water cooling tower with a capacity of 5,000 tons per hour, along with one high-pressure torch and one low-pressure torch, as well as one torch for treating acidic gases, will be installed. Once the project is completed and put into operation, the company’s gasoline product quality, energy consumption, and emissions will reach leading levels in China, thereby enabling an upgrade in product quality as well as enhancing the capacity for hydrogen supply and security.
