In mid-June 2025, the Phase V project of Xinjiang Meike, which was undertaken under EPC general contracting by China Chemical Chengda Company, reached a key milestone: the boiler of the thermal power unit was successfully ignited for the first time and began to operate stably. This is another significant milestone for the project, following the successful production of qualified BDO product on March 16th during the first feeding of the chemical processing unit. It marks the full entry of the project into the hot-commissioning phase of the entire system, creating favorable conditions for the purging of high-pressure steam pipelines and the full commissioning of the facility. During the construction of the thermoelectric device, the project team made full use of its organizational and coordination capabilities to manage and coordinate various resources such as design, technology, supply, and construction. By establishing a daily reporting and coordination mechanism, managing key and difficult issues in a list-based manner, and scientifically allocating construction resources, various challenges such as the integration of design and construction, shortened procurement and supply cycles, and harsh winter construction conditions were effectively overcome, allowing the installation tasks for all systems of the thermal power plant to be completed on schedule. Before initiating the boiler operation, the project team planned in advance, developed comprehensive operating procedures and emergency response plans, and worked together with the participating units to conduct multiple rounds of testing and defect inspections on the boiler as well as various auxiliary equipment, thereby laying a solid foundation for the successful ignition.
Previously, Meike Chemical has successfully completed phases 1 to 4 of its projects, and its annual BDO production capacity has stabilized at 370,000 tons. By the end of this year, with the successful commissioning of the fifth phase of the 100,000-ton capacity project, Mek Chemical’s annual BDO production capacity is set to rise to 470,000 tons. This figure will surpass that of Inner Mongolia Dongyuan Technology Group Co., Ltd., making Mek Chemical the leader in BDO production capacity in China. It is worth noting that Xinjiang is not only the location of Meike Chemical, but it is also an important province for BDO production in China. As of July 2024, Xinjiang’s total BDO production capacity had reached 1.14 million tons. Next, let’s take a detailed look at the history of the major BDO manufacturing enterprises in Xinjiang. Since its commissioning in 2008, the first phase of Meike Chemical Co., Ltd.’s 60,000-ton BDO production project has undergone multiple expansion phases, with all four phases now completed. Xinjiang Lanshan Tunhe Technology Co., Ltd. is also continuing to grow; its first-phase production capacity of 100,000 tons of BDO was completed in 2019, while the third-phase capacity of 40,000 tons was put into operation successfully in November 2023. In addition, the first-phase 60,000-ton BDO project of Xinjiang Xinye Energy Chemical Co., Ltd. has been operating stably for many years, and its second-phase 200,000-ton project is set to come online by the end of August. In summary, Xinjiang boasts strong capabilities in the BDO production sector, with multiple enterprises together forming an important part of China’s BDO production capacity. With the gradual commissioning of new projects, Xinjiang’s BDO production capacity is expected to increase further, providing more high-quality products for the BDO market in China and around the world.
