Recently, the main structure of the urea granulation tower for Hebei Zhengyuan’s project on clean and efficient comprehensive utilization of hydrogen energy and coal was successfully completed. Located in the Lingang Economic and Technological Development Zone of Cangzhou, Hebei Province, this project will significantly improve the clean and efficient utilization of coal resources, increase the added value of products, and promote the development of the coal chemical industry in Hebei Province in a more sustainable and high-end direction, thereby providing strong impetus for the high-quality development of the regional economy. Construction Overview: The urea granulation tower is one of the key components in a urea production facility. Its function is to spray molten urea through nozzles, where it comes into countercurrent contact with rising air inside the tower, thereby cooling and solidifying it into urea granules. The designed height of this urea granulation tower is 101.8 m (with the elevator shaft height being 108.5 m); its outer diameter is 23 m. It features a reinforced concrete cylindrical structure, which implies large structural dimensions, great height, strict requirements for construction accuracy, and high operational risks. During the construction process, the technical management team faced numerous technical challenges: the project was located in a coastal area, and was affected by frequent wind and rain ; Excavation work is difficult, the construction of large-volume concrete poses high requirements, a large amount of steel is needed, strict precision is required for maintaining the verticality of the cylinder, there is frequent cross-work, coordination is challenging, and it is difficult to ensure an adequate supply of raw materials for concrete. To address these challenges, the project established a technical task force composed of key engineering and technical personnel who organized a capable team of experts to develop scientific construction plans and implement various technical measures: using steel sheet piles for soil excavation support, monitoring temperature differences in large-volume concrete, employing BIM technology for detailed analysis, applying hydraulic slip form construction methods, using high-precision measuring instruments for real-time monitoring, and utilizing a smart construction site management system. Through these measures, the project team worked together to effectively overcome various technical challenges, ensuring the quality and safety of the construction work; by delivering high-quality projects, they enhanced the reputation of LiuHua Construction.
