Recently, the large-scale equipment for the 500,000 tons per year BioPTMEG project (Phase I) at Jiangsu Huafeng Ruixun Biomedical Materials Co., Ltd. – namely the THF product purification tower – was successfully hoisted into place, marking the beginning of the process of installing the necessary components on the tower. The THF product purification tower of the PTMEG unit being lifted this time weighs 82.5 tons, has a diameter of 3.58 meters, and a length of 53.95 meters. The lifting was carried out using the single-crane lifting method: one 400-ton crawler crane was used for the main lifting, while another 150-ton crawler crane was used to assist in lifting. The project team developed a thorough lifting plan, organized the teams responsible for pipeline installation around the tower, platform ladders, anti-corrosion and insulation work, as well as electrical lighting, to clarify their tasks and detail the procedures involved. They strengthened labor discipline management to ensure efficient progress in the work. By motivating the staff to work overtime and setting up rain shelters, they overcame the adverse effects of the rainy and hot weather in Jiangsu, and continued to work hard to complete the installation of protective covers on the tower on schedule. This effort yielded valuable experience for subsequent tower lifting operations, demonstrating the company’s strong capabilities and expertise in lifting large-scale equipment, and earning high praise from the client. The project is located in the Lusi Port Economic Development Zone in Qidong, Jiangsu, covering a planned land area of 650 mu. Its construction scope includes an annual production capacity of 500,000 tons of bio-based polytetramethylene ether glycol and 20,000 tons of **furan, among other products. This project uses furfural produced from corn cobs as the main raw material, employing the independently developed BioPTMEG process. Compared to traditional petroleum-based PTMEG, it can reduce raw material costs by over 30% while cutting carbon emissions by 40%, enabling the transition of PTMEG production from \"black gold\" to \"green gold\". This not only boosts economic benefits significantly but also aligns more closely with the strategy of green and low-carbon development, contributing to the achievement of the \"dual carbon\" goals and highlighting the dual value of technological innovation in ecological protection and industrial upgrading. Jiangsu Huafeng Ruixun Biomaterials Co., Ltd. plans to invest approximately 10.0779 billion yuan in the Lusi Port Economic Development Zone of Qidong, Jiangsu, to build a facility capable of producing 500,000 tons per year of bio-based polytetramethylene ether glycol (BioPTMEG), 20,000 tons of **furan, as well as by-products including 45,500 tons of methyl acetate, 3,500 tons of 1,4-butanediol, and 1,500 tons of γ-butyrolactone. The project uses furfural produced from corn cobs as its main raw material and is planned to be carried out in three phases. Phase 1 will cover an area of 320 mu, with a production capacity of 50,000 tons per year of BioPTMEG and its by-products; completion and operation are scheduled for 2026 ; Phase 2 covers an area of 120 mu and will add production capacity of 150,000 tons per year for BioPTMEG and its by-products; it is expected to be completed and put into operation by 2028 ; Phase 3 covers an area of 210 mu and will add production capacity of 300,000 tons per year for BioPTMEG and its by-products, with commissioning expected around 2030.
