The cleaning schedule for quartz sand and activated carbon filters should be determined based on the quality of the raw water: if the raw water is tap water, it generally needs to be cleaned once a week (based on 7 days); whereas when the raw water is groundwater, river water, well water, or other waters of lower quality, it needs to be cleaned every three days, in order to ensure that sediment, impurities, and particles accumulated in the pre-treatment unit are removed promptly. 2. If the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet of the strainer increases (>0.06 Mpa), the filter element must be replaced to ensure the proper operation of the RO system. Recommendation: The filter element must be removed every three days for inspection and cleaning. The replacement cycle of the filter element depends on the quality of the water entering it; generally, it should be replaced every 15 days. 3. The resin tank for softening should be protected from exposure to high temperatures, and the resin should be regenerated using a regeneration liquid every 15 days.
One more thing: when backwashing activated carbon, it is necessary to ensure an expansion rate of around 30%. The expansion rate curve for activated carbon backwashing can be obtained from the supplier; if the supplier does not have it, it can be determined through testing. Note that at low temperatures, the expansion rate for the same flow rate is higher than at high temperatures. The particle size of activated carbon, as well as water temperature and flow rate, are key parameters in determining the backwash expansion rate.
