The pouring of the foundation slabs for the Cambodia LNG cryogenic storage tank project was successfully completed. Recently, the foundation slabs for this project, which is being constructed by LiuHuaJian, were poured successfully. It marks a significant phased breakthrough in the project construction. This project is a key initiative in Cambodia’s energy sector and represents the country’s first LNG-powered power plant. Once completed, it will significantly enhance Cambodia’s energy supply capacity, meeting 20% to 25% of the country’s electricity needs, effectively alleviating the shortage of electricity in the region, and contributing to the optimization of Cambodia’s energy structure as well as the improvement of living standards.
The LNG cryogenic storage tank project in Cambodia, undertaken by China National Chemical Sixth Construction Engineering Corporation, is a key demonstration project vital to Cambodia’s economic and social development; it is located in the Bassac Bay area of Kompong Cham Province, Cambodia. Once completed, this project will significantly enhance the local energy supply capacity, meeting 20%-25% of Cambodia’s electricity needs, and it holds great significance for promoting regional economic development and optimizing the energy structure. Within 104 days since the project began, there were 68 days of rainfall; the frequent precipitation disrupted the normal construction schedule and imposed significant pressure on advancing the project timeline. At the same time, the site faced three major challenges: the access roads were not paved, becoming muddy during the rainy season, which hindered the passage of vehicles carrying supplies ； The construction site is 4 to 10 meters lower than the surrounding ground, and water tends to accumulate there during the rainy season, forming \"water pools\", making drainage extremely difficult ； The standards in local building material markets are not uniform; materials that meet both Chinese and Cambodian standards are scarce. Procurement requires traveling 230 kilometers to Phnom Penh, which is time-consuming, labor-intensive, and increases costs. “There are always more solutions than problems! If we all work together as one, there’s no problem that can’t be solved! ”Wei Luodong, the branch manager, quickly took action to mobilize his team, leading them in a decisive battle to overcome the challenges at this critical stage.
