Sinopec’s key infrastructure project: Hunan Petrochemical’s high-performance epoxy resin production facility

On September 24, the critical equipment weighing over 300 tons for the high-performance epoxy resin production facility of the Hunan Petrochemical project, a key construction project of Sinopec, was safely lifted into place. The lifting operation was carried out using a 1,350-ton crawler crane as the main lifting device, with the assistance of a 320-ton auxiliary crane that moved over long distances; together, these cranes managed to smoothly transfer this \"giant\" equipment from a horizontal position to an upright one, thus completing the lifting process. This project utilizes production technologies developed by the company itself, and it is being constructed by Sinopec Fourth Construction Company. To date, the project has been under safe construction for more than 650 days, with a total of over 1 million safe working hours logged. The overall progress is over 60%, and the project is advancing smoothly
According to a report in the Yueyang Daily on August 18 (by Peng Zhan, Li Yijun, Yi Xican), high temperatures persisted during the early autumn period. The key project construction initiatives of Sinopec, as well as the project to build a plant in Hunan Petrochemical capable of producing 170,000 tons of high-performance epoxy resins per year, are progressing smoothly. Currently, these projects are in the final stages of civil work and equipment installation; overall progress has exceeded 60%. Safety in construction has been maintained for over 610 days in a row, with more than 900,000 man-hours of safe production achieved. More than 400 workers are working hard on these projects every day. All parties involved in the project pay close attention to construction safety and quality. They identify potential risks related to equipment and pipeline welding, protection of finished products, corrosion prevention of steel structures, inspection upon unboxing of equipment, and installation of pressure pipelines, and develop corresponding control measures. Thorough inspections of construction quality are carried out; a total of 362 quality control points under Category A have been inspected, with a 100% pass rate for all of them. This project utilizes production technologies independently developed by Hunan Petrochemical; it includes one new facility capable of producing 150,000 tons of liquid epoxy resin per year, and another facility capable of producing 20,000 tons of special epoxy resin per year, in addition to advanced oxidation treatment systems for saline wastewater. Once completed and put into operation, it will further increase Hunan Petrochemical’s epoxy resin production capacity and enhance its competitiveness.
