After superheating, the gas then passes through the terminal gas metering station, where its flow rate is recorded before it enters the pipeline system. An automated gas sampler is used to collect and measure the heating value of the gas, so that it can be used for monthly custody transfer accounting.
The natural gas I work with is transported through pipelines; as long as the hydrocarbon dew point and water dew point meet the requirements, I’m not sure what the calorific value is for
