(1) Under normal operating conditions (outside unloading periods), the composition of the pipeline-transmitted natural gas is the same as that of LNG. Due to the large volume of BOG during unloading, the nitrogen content in the composition of the pipeline-transported natural gas has increased slightly. The product standards for pipeline-transported natural gas comply with GB17820 “Natural Gas”. Its classification follows GB/T13611 “Classification of City Natural Gas”, and it falls within the 12 t range. The temperature of the natural gas transported externally is above 0°C, the transmission pressure is 7.2 MPa, no odorant is added, and no adjustment of calorific value is made.
In urban gas supply, natural gas is a colorless and odorless gas, making it difficult to detect leaks; therefore, odorants need to be added to ensure the safety of gas use.

According to the specifications, odorization is not required for the gas in the transmission pipeline from the starting point to the terminal. Odorant is added starting from the buffer tank at the terminal’s inlet up to its outlet; from there, the gas is delivered to users via various branch pipelines.
