Recently, Qingdao Liquefied Gas Company, a subsidiary of the Natural Gas Division, signed a contract with Sichuan Air Separation Equipment (Group) Co., Ltd. to jointly build Sinopec’s first air separation project that makes use of LNG cooling energy, which is of great significance for further promoting energy savings and carbon reduction as well as advancing resource recycling. Air separation refers to the process of separating the constituent gases from air using the principle of cryogenic freezing. The total investment for this project is 230 million yuan, funded by Sichuan Air Separation Equipment (Group) Co., Ltd. A air separation unit with a capacity of approximately 660 tons per day, along with associated systems, will be constructed on the unused land at the Qingdao LNG receiving station. This equipment uses air as raw material and relies on a fully automated, high-precision central control system to precisely regulate temperature and pressure. At the same time, the cold energy released during the LNG vaporization process is used to liquefy oxygen, nitrogen, and argon in the air, ultimately resulting in pure liquid products.
