Can IC be used to determine the fluoride content in naphtha? Can ICP-MS be used? Does anyone with experience have relevant analysis standards that I could refer to?:)
Do you know in what form fluorine exists in naphtha? The key to determining fluorine in naphtha is not the choice of instrument, but how to convert the fluorine in naphtha into a sample that can be measured accurately. There is no standard method for such analysis, but about 25 years ago, as part of work on the evaluation of hydrogenation catalysts and process research, I conducted tests to detect fluorine in light oils; however, I have almost forgotten everything about it now.
Thank you for your guidance. The issue with us is the deactivation of the hydrogenation catalyst; the fluoride level in the catalyst was found to be too high (0.82% after carbonization). Therefore, we are considering measuring the fluoride content in naphtha. However, we were unable to find any information on what form it exists in: L

What is the basis for the method you mentioned, or have you conducted such a test? What forms of fluorides are formed when fluorine-containing compounds (including organic and inorganic ones) are burned? Are there any specific requirements for the combustion process and the instruments? I think you're assuming things.
We are using the standards from UOP; currently, we employ combustion ion chromatography
