Our company’s alkylation unit is scheduled for shutdown for maintenance. I would like to ask: 1. How can the exothermic temperature be controlled and acid corrosion at low concentrations be prevented during the alkaline injection for neutralization in the alkylation reactor? 2. How to completely remove moisture from the device at the start of operation?
What process technology is your company using for alkylation – the DuPont method or the Rumms method? 1. The principle is the same: after removing all the material and acid, nitrogen is used for displacement, followed by a period of waiting until the acid adhering to the inner walls flows to the lowest point, where it is then removed. For the alkali solution concentration, 9-10% is sufficient; just start the pump and allow normal flow to proceed. 3. To prevent corrosion caused by localized low concentrations of acid during the neutralization process, it is necessary to establish a small alkali solution circulation system; this can effectively avoid issues such as heat release. 4. After neutralization, the system is flushed with water; thereafter, normal static dehydration and condensation dehydration can be carried out prior to starting up.
