Pneumatic compressor with liquid

Hello everyone, we are dealing with the alkylation unit in a stepped reactor. The refrigerant expansion tank at the inlet of the refrigerant compressor is constantly filled with liquid, and this liquid can cause significant damage to the compressor. Why is this? So what should be done about it? I would appreciate the advice from all of you experts. Thank you.
