On the 13th of the month, Sinochem Xingzhong used tank F-02 to mix 6,300 tons of high-sulfur fuel oil with 2,000 tons of biodiesel, successfully producing 8,300 tons of high-sulfur B24 biofuel oil. As the first order in the country following the Ministry of Commerce’s approval for Zhoushan to carry out the business of blending and exporting marine biofuel oils, this operation also implemented the regulatory framework for the blending of biofuel oils in Zhoushan, marking an important breakthrough by Sinochem Energy in contributing to the development of a hub for the allocation of commodity resources in the Zhejiang Free Trade Pilot Zone. The successful implementation of this business represents another innovative breakthrough in China, following simple processing and the mixing of products with different tax codes. This business not only fills the gap in the field of biodiesel blending in China, overcomes cost and supply chain constraints, and changes the situation in which biodiesel in the country relies on imported finished products, but it also creates a complete industrial chain that spans waste oil recycling, biodiesel production, storage and logistics, to port-based refueling, thereby generating new points of economic growth and promoting coordinated development across the entire value chain. At the same time, the large-scale use of biofuel oils can reduce carbon emissions from ships, supporting the goals related to carbon reduction; it facilitates the green transformation of the shipping industry, accelerates technological upgrades in sectors such as chemicals and logistics, enhances the modernization level of industrial chains, and strengthens China’s influence in the global marine fuel market.
