It’s not clear about this; polymerization mainly occurs due to high temperatures and the presence of dienes. The polymerization reaction inside the spherical tank should not be very intense, so the heat generated by polymerization should not be significant.
If the CPD content in the raw material exceeds a certain level, will the heat released during dimerization cause a rise in temperature, and is it possible for the temperature to exceed the designed value?
During the treatment of light hydrocarbons, processes such as gas fractionation and diene extraction are generally carried out before they enter the finished product tanks; therefore, there should be no issue with dimerization. Additionally, large amounts of low-boiling-point components should not be present. If it is untreated mixed light hydrocarbons, the tank needs to be cooled, and an appropriate amount of polymerization inhibitor can be added to prevent the olefins from polymerizing. Generally, untreated mixed light hydrocarbons are not stored in tanks for long periods of time.
