Our company has an alkylation unit, and recently the acid consumption of this unit has increased. What could be the reason for this?
1. Moisture in raw materials 2. Too low acid concentration 3. Quality issues with sulfuric acid 4. High content of butadiene 5. High alkaline content in raw materials
Check the operation of the wash tower and the light-end removal tower; excessive impurities are the main reason for high acid consumption, and dienes in the feed material also contribute to increased acid usage
The increased acid consumption is due to the need to remove light impurities before feeding the material into the reactor; both the method of acid supplementation and the accuracy of testing need to be taken into account. In my opinion, it is better to supplement acid in a balanced manner, and the process of adding and removing acid should be carried out continuously
