On April 18, Xinjiang Zhongtai (Group) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as Xinjiang Zhongtai) reached an important milestone in its development: the upgraded demonstration project for the comprehensive utilization of new material resources to produce methanol was put into operation, while the project aimed at using green electricity generated on-site at Zhongtai New Energy’s Tuokson facility to replace wind power also commenced operations on the same day. This marks a solid step forward for Xinjiang Zhongtai in the development of the green chemical industry. On that day, at the site of the upgraded demonstration project for the comprehensive utilization of new materials resources in Thailand to produce methanol, the project was officially put into operation once the intelligent control system was activated. This project was invested and constructed by Xinjiang Zhongtai New Materials Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Xinjiang Zhongtai, in Tuoxun County, Turpan City. Its aim is to improve the level of classified and high-quality utilization of coal and to extend the industrial chain. According to Ma Kui, the person in charge of the project, it covers an area of 1,350 mu and has an annual production capacity of 1 million tons of methanol. Methanol is produced through the comprehensive utilization of resources such as coal powder, coke dust, and waste gas, with the aim of improving the level of hierarchical and high-quality utilization of coal, extending the industrial chain, and enhancing the value chain. This project is China’s first million-ton-scale methanol plant that is entirely domestically produced and owns independent intellectual property rights; its core process packages and equipment are all of domestic origin, serving as a positive example for the full domestic production of large-scale coal chemical plants. The Sino-Thai New Energy Toksun self-provided green power substitution for wind power project, which commenced construction on the same day, has an installed capacity of 1.15 million kilowatts. Upon completion of the project, it is expected to save 700,000 tons of standard coal per year and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 1.93 million tons. According to Liu Chao, the project leader, the Tuoxun wind power project is a new energy project established in the Xiaocaohu wind area, one of Xinjiang’s nine major wind regions, with the goal of replacing traditional energy sources in the area with green electricity. “We will focus on the substitution of green electricity and the development of green chemistry, taking the Toksun area as the main battlefield. We will actively explore the production and application of new types of green energy such as hydrogen, ammonia, and alcohols, and make significant efforts to develop various green industries including wind power, photovoltaics, energy storage, green hydrogen, green ammonia, and green alcohols. Our goal is to establish Xinjiang Zhongtai’s first green chemical city. ”Liu Chao said. Wang Pingyang, Party Secretary and Chairman of Xinjiang Zhongtai, said that over the past two years, Xinjiang Zhongtai has focused on optimizing its industrial layout by defining a clear development strategy for its industrial groups. The Korla polyester project has filled a gap in the region’s chemical fiber industry, the Tuoksun million-ton methanol project has begun operations, and the installed capacity of green energy sources has increased from zero to a significant level. The commencement and operation of these two major projects mark a substantial breakthrough in the new \"2+2\" modern industrial development framework that Xinjiang Zhongtai is striving to establish. This framework focuses on green chemical manufacturing and eco-friendly cotton textile production as its core industries, while also vigorously developing the new materials sector. It promotes the development of new energy sources and modern trade in a coordinated manner, thereby creating an innovative model for integrated industrial development
