Recently, in Lianyungang, Jiangsu, significant progress was made in the construction of China’s largest integrated refining and chemical complex; the core production units were delivered at the intermediate stage, and the project has now entered the preparation phase for commissioning. This is the largest integrated refining and chemical processing project of its kind in China, utilizing internationally advanced process technologies; it has achieved a significant increase in the proportion of scarce chemical products, rising from around 50% to over 70%. It fundamentally solves the common problems in the petrochemical industry, such as low resource utilization rates, a fragmented industrial chain, as well as high energy consumption and emissions. Once in operation, it will help reduce the reliance on imported raw materials by more than 10%, significantly increasing China’s self-sufficiency rate in key raw materials. This will provide a solid foundation for the development of strategic emerging industries such as new energy, new materials, electrochemistry, and biotechnology. Yu Huiyong, General Manager of Shenghong Refining & Chemicals (Lianyungang) Co., Ltd.: Investments in safety and environmental protection amount to 11 billion yuan, accounting for 16% of the total investment, and these efforts play a crucial role in supporting energy transition and the achievement of the \"dual carbon\" goals.
