On November 5, the Jiangsu Provincial Department of Industry and Information Technology announced information regarding the preparations being made to expand the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base. According to the public announcement, the current planned area of the Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base is 61.34 square kilometers, and it is planned to include some areas of the Banqiao Industrial Park within the expanded scope of this industry base. The planned area for the expansion is 9.8 square kilometers, with its boundaries being National Highway 228 to the east, Road No. 9 to the south, Jin Gang Road to the west, and Tai He Road to the north. After the expansion, the total area is 71.14 square kilometers, divided into two zones. The Lianyungang Petrochemical Industry Base is one of the **seven national petrochemical industry bases that have been planned and established; it has developed an industrial structure based on \"integration of refining and chemical processing + high-end new materials + green energy\". At present, the Lianyungang petrochemical industry base has gathered three leading enterprises: an petrochemical industry chain featuring both \"aromatics and olefins\" sectors, represented by the Shenghong integrated refining and chemical processing project; a high-end petrochemical industry chain represented by the Lianyungang light hydrocarbon comprehensive utilization project invested in by Satellite Chemical; and Sinochem Lianyungang Circular Economy Industrial Park, which utilizes the upstream and downstream products within the base to create a complementary, integrated industry chain.
