Recently, I’ve been working with polypropylene having a low melt index, and it’s difficult to lower this melt index. Could it be that the polypropylene contains some hydrogen? We lack testing methods. Is there a small amount of hydrogen in refinery propylene and pyrolysis propylene?
Both will occur, because the two sources of propylene you mentioned are both produced through hydrocarbon cracking; it is inevitable that hydrogen is generated as a result of the cracking of saturated hydrocarbons. It is merely a matter of the extent to which hydrogen is completely removed from the refined propylene during the subsequent refining process.
