On October 19, Luoyang Petrochemical reported that Sinopec Group held a meeting in Beijing recently, inviting experts from over 10 organizations including the Chinese Chemical Society and the China Synthetic Rubber Industry Association, as well as relevant representatives, to form an evaluation team tasked with conducting a comprehensive assessment of the feasibility study report for Luoyang Petrochemical’s million-ton ethylene project. At the meeting, the evaluation expert group listened to the relevant reports on the project presented by Luoyang Petrochemical, Sinopec Engineering Construction Company, and Luoyang Engineering Company. It conducted a comprehensive assessment of aspects such as the necessity of project construction, raw materials, product options, the market situation, and process technologies, thereby forming its opinions. After the meeting, the relevant departments will revise and improve the feasibility study report based on the expert group’s suggestions, ultimately preparing and issuing an evaluation report to advance the project to the stage of approval for the feasibility study report. The feasibility study report for Luoyang Petrochemical’s one-million-ton ethylene project was completed in May this year and submitted to the headquarters for review; the process of evaluating the report commenced in mid-June. Upon completion, the project will accelerate the transformation and development of Luoyang Petrochemical, enhance the company’s ability to withstand risks, thereby driving the transformation and upgrading of the petrochemical industry across the province and promoting high-quality development of the manufacturing sector in the central region. The report of the city’s 12th Party Congress states that carrying out joint industrial development is an important approach to promoting the high-quality development of the manufacturing sector. Focusing on the theme of building a closely integrated industrial ecosystem, Luoyang City will accelerate the development of the Luoyang-Ji County-Jiaozuo high-end petrochemical industry belt. It will also actively carry out preliminary work for the construction of a one-million-ton ethylene plant by Luoyang Petrochemical. The city aims to ensure that major projects such as this ethylene plant are completed and put into operation by 2025.
