On November 24, the degassing tower of Liaoning Jinfafa’s PDH unit introduced propane and reducing gas into the reactor, thereby enabling feeding of materials into the reactor. On November 27, the propylene produced by PDH was introduced into the acrylonitrile feed tank. With the successful first startup of the PDH unit, it was marked that the Liaoning Jinfafa project for annual production of 600,000 tons of ABS along with its associated facilities achieved full operational capability on November 27th. The commissioning dates for various units in this project are as follows: on June 26, the ABS unit was successfully put into operation for trial runs, and full production and consumption were achieved later on ； On October 24, the acrylonitrile plant was successfully put into operation ； The PDH unit was successfully fed with materials on November 24, and qualified products were produced on November 27. It is reported that “Liaoning Jinfafa” was originally named “Liaoning Baolai New Materials Co., Ltd.” (hereinafter referred to as “Baolai New Materials”). The 600,000-ton ABS production project along with its supporting facilities began construction on October 8, 2020. This project involves the construction of a 600,000-ton/year PDH plant, a 600,000-ton/year ABS plant, a 260,000-ton/year acrylonitrile plant, a 100,000-ton/year MMA plant, as well as various supporting facilities. To address its weaknesses in the ABS sector, Jinfat Technology acquired Baolai New Materials; it took control of 51.09% of Baolai New Materials’ shares in 2021. In March 2022, Jinfat Technology, together with Guangzhou Tengxichen, Panjin Jinfat, and Jinshi New Materials Fund, invested additional capital in Baolai New Materials, raising their combined shareholding to 72.66%. In April 2022, Baolai New Materials was renamed Liaoning Jinfafa. Kingfa Sci. & Tech. will have a total PDH production capacity of 1.8 million tons per year. Apart from the 600,000-ton-per-year PDH plant in Liaoning, Kingfa also has a 600,000-ton-per-year PDH plant operated by its subsidiary Ningbo Kingfa, as well as another 600,000-ton-per-year PDH plant currently under construction. Once all these facilities become operational, Kingfa’s total PDH production capacity will reach 1.8 million tons per year. (1) The first phase of the Ningbo Jinfafa 1.24 million tons/year propane and mixed C4 utilization project, which includes a 600,000 tons/year PDH unit, was fully completed and put into operation in 2014. The main production capacities include a 600,000 tons/year propane dehydrogenation unit, a 600,000 tons/year isooctane unit, a 40,000 tons/year ethylbenzene unit, and a 1 million tons/year gas separation unit. (2) The 600,000 tons per year PDH plant under construction, as well as the Ningbo Jinfafa 1.2 million tons per year polypropylene thermoplastic elastomer (PTPE) and modified new materials integrated project, began construction on June 10, 2020. With a total investment of 10.5 billion yuan, the project is being built in two phases. The initial investment is estimated at around 6 billion yuan, which will be used primarily for building production lines for propane dehydrogenation with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons, polypropylene production with an annual capacity of 800,000 tons, and modified polypropylene materials with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons, as well as the necessary supporting infrastructure. The PDH unit adopts the Lummus process, with commissioning planned before 2023. In the second phase, construction will mainly focus on one propane dehydrogenation unit with an annual capacity of 600,000 tons and one polypropylene plant with an annual capacity of 400,000 tons. Construction is scheduled to begin in 2023 and is expected to be completed by the end of 2026. On September 28, the low-temperature tank and related facilities for Ningbo Jinfafa’s integrated project were successfully handed over. The project includes a 120,000-liter cryogenic propane tank, a 10,000-liter cryogenic ethylene tank, as well as supporting facilities, and is primarily used for the reception, storage, and transportation of cryogenic propane and cryogenic ethylene.
