Successful trial of self-produced CHP at Jihua Dye Factory

On February 10, the first batch of isopropyl hydrogen peroxide (CHP) with a concentration of over 80%, produced by the dye factory of Jilin Petrochemical Company, was successfully tested for the first time in the ABS unit of the synthetic resin factory, with all parameters meeting national standards. 　　It is reported that the ABS unit in synthetic resin plants requires the continuous use of high-purity CHP as an initiator during the production process. For a long time, this raw material has had to be purchased from external sources, resulting in high costs. To overcome this bottleneck, the dye factory built on its existing 350,000 tons per year phenol-acetone production facility to conduct thorough technical evaluations and process optimizations. As a result, a process scheme was developed that allows the intermediate product CHP to be extracted and sold as a product, without affecting the stable operation of the facility. 　　CHP is an organic peroxide with thermal instability. To ensure a safe and controlled product shipping process, the plant first cools the materials taken from the concentration unit of the phenol-acetone plant using a chilled water system to room temperature, and then transports them to the bottling area through a newly built enclosed pipeline system, thereby achieving closed transportation throughout the entire process. 　　This project transforms the “intermediate products” that were previously overlooked in the production process into commercially usable additives that can be measured, stored, and allocated, thereby effectively enhancing the collaborative value within the industrial chain. “The unit cost of CHP produced in the factory is 8,500 yuan/ton lower than that when purchased externally, resulting in annual savings of over 8 million yuan and a significant reduction in the costs associated with purchasing additives. ”said Yuan Xin, the manager of the dye factory.
