To date, the cracking gas compressors and propylene compressors in the ethylene unit of Shanghai Petrochemical’s Olefins Department have been in operation for three months since their upgrade, resulting in a significant reduction in energy consumption. Pyrolysis gas compressors and propylene compressors are key equipment in ethylene plants. Taking the major maintenance of the facilities as an opportunity, the Olefins Department of Shanghai Petrochemical joined forces with external expert teams to upgrade the cracking gas compressors and propylene compressors, replacing the core component of the turbines – the primary nozzles. The replacement nozzles utilize world-leading efficient corrosion-resistant technology, with a manufacturing precision controlled within 0.02 millimeters; their wear resistance has been significantly improved, addressing the issue of corrosion caused by high-speed steam and thereby greatly extending the nozzles’ service life. Calculations show that after the upgrade, the two units can save 6.33 tons of steam per hour, resulting in significant energy savings and improved efficiency.
